Silly Boy's Birthday Staycation

☼ Day 1

More than a month ago, I started planning for silly boy's birthday. The more I planned, the more I anticipated for the day to arrive as if it was my birthday - lol. I googled through a super long list of hotels and wanted to find something special as I knew that stay-cations were nothing new to him. My final choice was Wanderlust Hotel.

As silly boy had not been to Universal Studios Singapore before, I decided to bring him there. I signed up for the RWS Invites membership as they were giving out 2 USS tickets with 2 express passes to 5 blockbusters rides each. The membership costs $150, and I thought it was reasonable as I only had to pay additional $1 for each ticket to gain express entry to 5 rides.

Excited, I told him that I planned his birthday over the weekend instead of celebrating on his actual day because it was a Monday, but details remain a secret.

After days of countdown, the day finally arrived! I wanted to bring him to Orchard Hotel's Tony Roma's for their famous ribs and steak, but silly boy suggested Aston's instead.
Hence, we headed to Centrepoint for Astons Steak and Salad.

After lunch, we went shopping at 313, and more shopping at Bugis. We went to Bugis+ (formerly known as Iluma) and gotten silly boy a Adidas bag pack which was similar to mine. After a long day of shopping, I wanted to bring him for a native Thai massage so that I could make some preparations for the hotel stay. But I was worried he might be uncomfortable having it alone, so I asked if he was keen for a massage. Glad that I asked, as he wasn't enthusiastic about it. Instead, he suggested shisha.
So, we proceeded to Bali Lane.

our grape flavored shisha

It was my first time trying shisha and it definitely feels better than cigarettes. Perhaps a little ice blast in grape shisha could have been better :p
It was almost 6 and I decided it's time to check into our hotel stay. So, I told him that I'm bringing him somewhere and we took a cab there. I directed the cab driver to Dickson Road.

Along the way, silly boy kept asking me where we were going. I told him we were going for famous prata in Little India HAHAHAHAHA. From afar, we could see Hotel 81 and he asked if we were going there. For a moment, I was thinking, 'I got so cheapskate meh? Bring you to Hotel 81 on your birthday!'. But then again, I thought it was quite funny too. I laughed, told him 'Ya, I bring you go Hotel 81 open room lor', and instructed the cab driver to stop outside Hotel 81, which was just opposite Wanderlust Hotel. Looking puzzled, silly boy alighted from the cab and walked towards Hotel 81 entrance. I quickly called out to him and pulled him towards the direction of Wanderlust.

frontage of Wanderlust Hotel - along Dickson Road

As you can see, Wanderlust look nothing like a hotel you see along Orchard Road. 'Wanderlust' means a strong desire to travel far away and explore different places. The building was originally an old school built in 1920s, and it has turned into vibrant, eye-poping icon in Little India. There are four thematic levels with 29 rooms, and each level is designed by 4 different award winning Singapore design agencies.

Creative Comforts by fFurious

Level 4's whimsical suites are designed by fFurious. There is a total of 9 loft rooms with 5 different designs - 'Bling', 'ASCII', 'Space', 'Tree' and 'Typewriter'.
We chose the 'Space' theme.

birthday prezzie no. 2

Birthday prezzie no. 2 was fresh set of clothes. Why new clothes? Firstly, he did not expect a staycation, so I had to prepare clothes for him. Also, I remember silly boy ranting about his missing black singlet, so bought 2 pieces from H&M and a pair of shorts from Cotton On. So glad I got the sizes right :p

Silly boy changed to his new singlet and we headed to City Sq Mall for dinner. I got to say that black singlet looks good on him.

We walked approximately 15 minutes before reaching City Sq Mall. Dinner was at Sushi Tei - Jap food is another favorite of his.

silly right? HAHAHAHA

spread for 2.

I heard from Eve that Mustafa has expanded and there is a new extended building. Hence, we headed there after dinner to get some toiletries. It's been some time since my last visit to Mustafa and I must say their selection of every single item is extensive. Strangely, we could not find any beer inside Mustafa, so we went to the 7-11 nearby our hotel before going back to Space.
Simultaneously, we soaked in the bath tub, drank ice cold beer and watched Final Destination.

Day 2

Day 2 started off with awesome breakfast at Cocotte.

a spot in Cocotte which i found pretty romantic

Cocotte served half buffet half ala-carte breakfast. Continental breakfast will be served at the buffet counter and main courses will be ordered from the menu. There's selections of either pancakes, eggs or some yoghurt-cereal stuff. Of course, we chose eggs - scrambled and omelette.

the sauteed mushroom is to die for!

Highlight for Day 2 will of course be our excursion to USS!

Say hi to Mort from Magadascar!
silly boy got this for me from the gift shop. I named him 'Momo'.

See how much we love beer?

Lunch at Malaysian Food Street - located just outside USS

Thumbs Up!

Goodbye USS!

After USS, we headed to Vivo City's Giant Hypermarket to get ingredients for home-made steamboat. Lugging out heavy groceries and legs, we took a cab back to Yishun. We had a quick shower and prepared the steamboat in lightning speed. Steamboat that night was a little more luxurious as we bought fish and pacific clams.

While waiting for the steamboat to boil, I gave silly boy his third birthday prezzie -  a birthday puzzle. The norm would have been birthday card, but for someone special, I thought something different would be worthier.

 All pieced up!

The birthday puzzle didn't turn out as perfect as I pictured it, cause I selected a different font which fitted the background better. I guess the puzzle maker had their limitations. :/

Happy 27th Birthday, silly boy.
