2D1N in Kukup strongly reminds me of the trip to Tanjung Balai. Kukup is a small fishing village in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. I have not been there before and judging from Xinyi's personal encounter, it should be another kampong.
Anyway, Andy and Joenn came to pick me up and we drove to KSL to meet up with his group of colleagues. We had our breakfast there and continued the road trip to Kukup. Once we reached Kukup, it was time to eat again. We proceed to one of the Chinese seafood restaurant.
After the average lunch, we took a boat to one of the kelongs.

in case you are wondering why this fish has a beak, it's actually the teeth
After the kelong tour, we went to buy some fire crackers and 'pop pop' before heading to the chalet.

checking out the KTV disc, only to find lots of oldies.
Thank god that the KTV system had new songs.
masterpiece of the inexperienced
After settling down, some started the KTV and chilling session. The sky turned dark and they suggested we could start off the fire crackers. Excited, we went to a platform above the sea started experimenting with the different types of fire crackers and 'pop pop'.
Right after was a spread of BBQ dinner. The BBQ food was prepared by the staff at the chalet. There were some fried items, sambal stingray, prawn, sotong, satay and chicken wings. Something interesting would be the bah kwa served together with cucumbers.
After dinner, we continued the KTV and drinking session. We sang till 2-3 am.
For breakfast, coffee and tea was served with crackers. Joenn and I had some Milo and she suggested we go take some photos before leaving.
We had lunch again at the same seafood restaurant on day 1.
Here's a group shot before we left.
Kukup trip was actually all about food, fire crackers and perhaps the fully air conditioned chalet. People raved about the seafood there, but I thought it was rather mediocre. If they had better furnished chalets and recreation activities, it would prolly be a good spot for a relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
